Alla Starovoitova, a 62-year-old former poultry worker from Berestove, Bakhmut district, moved into apartment 12.3A at Senior Chudo Village on December 16, 2024. Before the war, Alla lived in a village with her father, owning a house and a farm. Her life revolved around work and household chores, with her daughter married and living separately.

When the war began, Alla and her family planned to evacuate, but the shelling started before they could leave. A shell hit the room where all five family members were sleeping, killing everyone except Alla. She blames herself for not saving them. Injured and wanting to die, Alla was rescued by a neighbor who sent her to his cellar. A soldier eventually found her, took her out of the village, and brought her to doctors who provided medical assistance.

Before moving to Senior Chudo Village, Alla rented a house with a friend in Pyatykhatky, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, where conditions were normal. When Oleksandra Volodymyrivna called to inform Alla that her application had been approved, she reacted with a strange smile and trembling hands.

Alla describes the village as a paradise on earth, a fairy tale, with well-thought-out living arrangements. She and her friend had previously lived in poor conditions, making the village’s beauty even more striking.

Although Alla has no chronic illnesses, she requires psychological support due to intense feelings of guilt over her family’s death. Her plan for the future is simply to live.

Alla advises young people not to become overly attached to material things, as true values lie in people and relationships. She emphasizes the importance of investing time in loved ones and cherishing what one has, especially friendships.

Regarding Dell Loy Hansen’s mission, Alla finds his work in Ukraine inspiring, as assistance in rebuilding infrastructure is crucial for local communities. She expresses gratitude for his contribution to the country’s restoration and support for the people, considering him a person sent by God.

As an elderly displaced person, Alla highlights housing as the most pressing need. She finds no shortcomings in the village and appreciates the opportunity to live there.
