The Bondar Family: A New Chapter of Hope
Names: Anatolii (77) and Liubov Bondar (68)
Hometown: Zvanivka Village, Donetsk Region, Ukraine

The war arrived in Zvanivka like an unwelcome storm, shattering the peaceful life Anatolii and Liubov had carefully built over decades. On May 30, 2023, they were forced to make an impossible choice — leave everything behind or risk everything by staying.

Their journey of displacement began with an evacuation to Dnipro, a city that had become a temporary sanctuary for thousands of displaced Ukrainians. But safety remained elusive. From Dnipro, they moved again, finding temporary shelter in Rubizhivka, each move a testament to their resilience and survival.

Hope arrived in an unexpected form. The “Do Ukraine with Love” charitable foundation offered more than just assistance — they offered a chance at a new beginning. Anatolii and Liubov filled out the application, perhaps with cautious hope, never fully expecting the miracle that was to come.

On October 20, 2023, they arrived at the Miracle Village — a moment that would redefine their lives.

At 77 and 68, Anatolii and Liubov had lost everything. Their private house and apartment in Zvanivka were completely destroyed, memories reduced to rubble. But the Miracle Village offered them something precious — dignity, comfort, and hope.

The village was more than just housing. It was a comprehensive support system. Free accommodation with all modern conveniences, new household appliances, furniture — everything they needed was provided. Medical assistance, legal consultations, free meals — the support was comprehensive and compassionate.

Liubov found purpose as a volunteer with the “Help the Armed Forces of Ukraine” group, continuing to contribute to her country’s defense. Anatolii focused on recovery, healing from a recent operation, surrounded by care and support.

They spoke with profound gratitude about Mr. Hansen and the village director, Oleksandra Kondrasheva. The calm and comfort they found in the Miracle Village was more than just physical — it was a restoration of hope, a reminder that community and compassion can heal the deepest wounds of war.

Their story is a powerful testament to the resilience of Ukraine’s displaced people — those who have lost everything but found the strength to begin again, to hope, to live.

A narrative of survival, gratitude, and the unbreakable human spirit.
