Finding Calm After Artillery Strikes
When the war began, the Krasnianski couple’s life changed dramatically on May 11 when artillery shells hit their home. They fled to safety, initially staying with acquaintances in Kyiv before relocating to the hamlet of Kozyn in Khmelnytskyi region. In 2024, they were offered the opportunity to live in Miracle Village.
Their home in Siversk was completely destroyed during the fighting, leaving nothing for them to return to after decades of building their lives there.
“Our lives have changed dramatically: it’s peaceful and quiet, like being in a good family,” shares Valentyna. “We are very grateful for everything to philanthropist Hansen and to all who are not indifferent to others' suffering.”
Both spouses have found purpose in their new community. Anatolii volunteers as an electrician, while Valentyna helps with the Ukrainian Armed Forces support group. After losing their home to artillery fire and experiencing multiple relocations, the elderly couple has found not only safety but also purpose and community that have restored their sense of peace and belonging.
