The Zavneusov Family

Oleksii Zavneusov (67) and Iryna Zavneusova (65)
Moved in: May 19, 2025 | Apartment: 21 3A
From: Chernihivka, Zaporizhzhia region

Before the war, Oleksii worked as a telecom electromechanic, welder, and carpenter. Iryna led the local economic development department and was a social facilitator. They lived actively in their own home, with a garden, greenhouses, and a strong family life.

In April 2022, their home was invaded by Russian forces. Under heavy psychological pressure and danger, they escaped through 21 checkpoints, leaving everything behind. Their house was seized; a relative who stayed behind was harassed.

They spent three difficult years displaced, sharing space with many others in poor conditions. Thanks to Rokada and the foundation, they received a room — and eventually, a new home in Senior Chudo Village.

“Moving here gave us hope and stability after years of uncertainty. It feels like home.”

Oleksii lives with a Group 3 disability and chronic illness; Iryna has age-related health issues. They don’t need psychological support, but value a caring environment.

They hope to integrate into the community, help others, and give back through volunteering. Oleksii offers his skills in small repairs and woodworking; Iryna supports with organizing, consultations, and documentation.

Message to the young: “Love your land and family. Act while you have strength. Don’t fear responsibility.”

To Dell Loy Hansen: “He restored our lives. We thank and pray for him.”

Needs of older displaced people: Safe housing, access to healthcare, and human connection. Senior Chudo Village brings this — and more.
