  • Svitlana: Music teacher (accordion)
  • Yurii: Long-haul truck driver

Life Before the War: Svitlana led a vibrant life filled with concerts, teaching, and time with grandchildren. She loved driving and cherished her home and community.

Journey of Displacement: When shelling intensified, Svitlana fled alone to Khmelnytskyi, leaving almost everything behind. She lived in shelters and temporary housing, facing physical hardship and emotional strain. Eventually, she and Yurii settled in Bukovel, but the mountainous terrain and heavy labor proved too difficult.

Before Chudo Village: They lived in a sanatorium in Truskavets with poor nutrition and limited facilities, then in a modular town where costs were unsustainable on their pensions.

Receiving the Call: The invitation to Senior Chudo Village felt miraculous. “We couldn’t believe it. So many problems just disappeared.”

Impressions of the Village: Peace replaced anxiety. The homes are thoughtfully designed, the neighbors kind. “It’s incredibly comfortable. That’s what we love most.”

  • Svitlana: Multiple surgeries, heart issues, spinal injury
  • Yurii: Cardiovascular disease

Outlook & Advice: “We don’t dream anymore—life is already good.” To the younger generation: “Be honest. Don’t deceive. Work hard and care for your loved ones.”

Message to Dell Loy Hansen: “Your care is cosmic. Only a person of great character could give so much to the elderly. May God repay your kindness.”

Support Needed for Seniors: “Life outside home is expensive. Pensioners can’t afford to start over.”

Suggestions for the Village:

  • On-site doctor and dentist
  • Access to therapeutic baths
  • Shuttle bus service

Ways We Can Help: “I can organize music and dance activities to bring joy to others.”
