Halyna Rozanova

Apartment 21 1b, moved in on May 19, 2025

Halyna Ivanivna Rozanova (74) arrived at Senior Chudo Village from Novohrodivka, Donetsk region. A lifelong hard worker, she dedicated herself to her family, community, and simple joys: home, peace, and family celebrations. In 2022, her mother passed away at the age of 91. That same year, Halyna lost her eldest son — a soldier who died of heart failure after being wounded in the war.

This loss shook her deeply. She found temporary shelter with her daughter-in-law in Hostomel, and later moved to a modular settlement in Makariv. For eight months, she battled illness in cold, drafty conditions, struggling with pain and loneliness.

In 2024, through the support of a family protection officer, she learned about Senior Chudo Village. The phone call inviting her to move in felt like a sign from above.

“I cried. It was a moment of hope. Finally, I felt seen, heard — not left alone with my grief.”

Today, Halyna helps in the village kitchen and encourages others to get involved. She appreciates the sincere people around her and the feeling of being part of a caring community.

“I feel like I belong to something meaningful. People here support each other. It’s real shared life.”

Health-wise, she suffers from spinal and leg issues, but remains emotionally strong and committed to helping others.

Her dream now is to bring her close friend — the grandmother of a soldier — to live in the village too.

“Never be indifferent. Don’t hide from life. Conscience never goes out of style. My son died for others — I raised a strong man, and that means something.”

Halyna is deeply grateful to Dell Loy Hansen for his mission:

“His support is a new life for many of us. May God protect such people.”
