Finding Her Voice Again After Displacement
Until 2014, Liudmyla Zubchenko lived in Luhansk. When combat operations, bombings, shelling, and fires began, people started evacuating from the city en masse. She evacuated to Brovary, where she worked caring for elderly people. On October 20, 2023, thanks to Dell Loy Hansen and the Hansen Ukrainian Mission charity, she received the opportunity to live in Miracle Village.
Liudmyla has no information about the current state of her home in Luhansk, which has been under occupation since 2014.
“My life has changed,” Liudmyla shares. “I felt help and support, and strengthened spiritually. I found the strength to engage in my favorite activity — singing, and I participate in charity concerts. I’ve found peace, rejoice in life again, and thank D.L. Hansen for his kindness to Ukrainians and Ukraine. I thank Oleksandra Kondrashova for all the good.”
Finding purpose in her new community, Liudmyla volunteers with the Education and Events group, where her singing talent contributes to the cultural life of the village. After experiencing displacement from the earliest days of the conflict in 2014 and spending years caring for others, she has finally found a place where she can pursue her own passion for music while living with dignity and security.
