Nina Vinokurova, a 72-year-old displaced person from Bakhmut, moved into apartment 5.4B in Senior Chudo Village on December 16, 2024. Before retirement, she worked as a controller at a garment factory.

Prior to the war, Nina was retired and mostly stayed at home, doing household chores and occasionally traveling to the city. She found joy in sewing and had a sewing machine at home.

On the morning of February 24, 2022, at 5:00 AM, everyone ran out of the house into the street amid panic, screams, and a frightening scene. From that day on, Nina slept on the floor. On May 14, 2022, as the situation in the city became increasingly scary and Nina was alone, she decided to leave while she had the chance.

Before receiving a placement in Senior Chudo Village, Nina lived in a modular town in the village of Bortyatyn for 2.5 years. The conditions were like a dormitory, with many different people, lots of children, shared amenities, and limited privacy.

Nina found and filled out the application for Senior Chudo Village online. She had an acquaintance living in Lyubymivka at the time. On December 9, she received a call with the good news, which brought her joy.

Nina likes everything about Senior Chudo Village, including the beautiful houses, the renovations, and the free accommodation. She expresses special gratitude to the volunteer girls and administrators.

Nina has age-related health issues, high blood pressure, and osteochondrosis. She did not share any specific plans for the future or advice for the younger generation.

Regarding Dell Loy Hansen’s mission, Nina believes it is a great work of philanthropists, a rarity that not everyone is capable of. She feels they have found themselves in an extraordinary place of light and goodness. She wishes Hansen peace in his heart and in his country.

As an elderly displaced person, Nina says the biggest need is the lack of a permanent place to live. She likes everything about the settlement and did not suggest any improvements.
