Finding Peace After Total Loss
“The war cut my life in half,” shares Tamara Lytovchenko, recalling her initial shock when the conflict began. “When I first heard about it, I couldn’t comprehend what had happened.” She relocated to Kyiv, where she lived in a hostel. The constant tears and memories took a severe toll on her health.
Tamara lost everything when her apartment burned down during the fierce battle for Soledar, leaving her with nowhere to return. “Thanks to people with big hearts and kind souls, I found myself in Miracle Village,” she explains with gratitude.
“My deepest thanks and profound respect to those involved in creating Miracle Village,” Tamara says. “I feel as if I’ve arrived in paradise. Sometimes I can’t believe this is reality. I have my own personal space, and all my living conditions are excellent. I can’t even find the right words — they’re insufficient. Once again, thank you so much; I embrace and love you all.”
Finding purpose in her new community, Tamara volunteers with the “Plant Care” group, tending to the greenery that beautifies the village. After losing everything and experiencing profound grief, she has found not only shelter but also dignity, purpose, and a renewed appreciation for life’s beauty through caring for growing things.
