The Kuzel Family

Apartment 21 1a, moved in on May 19, 2025

A couple from Donetsk region found their new home at Senior Chudo Village:

  • Anatolii Mykolaiovych Kuzel (73) — former chief of Fire Station No. 117,
  • Tetiana Hryhorivna Kuzel (69) — specialist at the Orlivka village council.

Before the war, they lived peacefully in the village of Umanske, tending to their cozy home, garden, and vineyard. Their greatest joy was their only son, who worked at the Avdiivka Coke Plant. On May 3, 2022, he was tragically killed during a missile strike — a moment that changed everything.

Following the destruction of their home and months of legal battles and displacement, they were left without shelter and exhausted. In 2024, they applied to Senior Chudo Village. The call with the good news brought them hope.

“Here, you don’t feel like a burden. There’s peace, care, and dignity. We are deeply grateful to have been welcomed and not left alone with our grief.”

Tetiana contributes to the village by helping in the kitchen and keeping things in order — she cannot sit idle. Anatolii is ready to take part in any community projects. Their dream now is to create a cozy new space, plant flowers, and support others.

“Love your parents while you still have them. Live with honesty — your conscience will always guide you right. And never lose your humanity.”
