Rising From Ruins

Valentyna Nechaieva’s life changed drastically when her Kharkiv home was hit during shelling and partially destroyed. With nowhere left to live safely, she evacuated to Kyiv. With the assistance of volunteers, she was able to secure a place in Miracle Village in October 2024, finding stability after the trauma of losing her home.

“I’m very grateful for the human attention, the work of psychologists, medical care, free accommodation, empathy, humanity, and care,” Valentyna shares. “I have only one great wish — for the war to end.”

Finding purpose in her new community, Valentyna volunteers with the “Cleanliness and Order” group, helping maintain the village that has given her a new beginning. After experiencing the terror of shelling and the loss of her home in Kharkiv, she has found not only physical safety but also emotional support and community that has helped her rebuild her life amid the ongoing conflict.
