Finding Purpose After Shelling

When the war began, Valentyna Voronina was living in her native village, but intense shelling forced her to evacuate on January 25, 2023, to Vysoke village. “From the internet, I learned about D.L. Hansen’s charity,” she shares. “I filled out an application and waited. My request was approved, and on October 20, 2023, I arrived at Miracle Village, which impressed me with its beauty.”

Her home in Burhunka was destroyed during the fighting, leaving nothing for her to return to.

“I am very satisfied with living in Miracle Village,” Valentyna explains. “I received everything necessary for comfortable living here: wonderful household appliances, new furniture, nice dishes, bed linens. Medical services, psychological assistance, and legal consultations are provided.”

Finding purpose and leadership in her new community, Valentyna serves as the leader of the volunteer “Cleanliness and Order” group. After losing her home and experiencing displacement, she has found not only safety but also a sense of purpose and community that have allowed her to rebuild her life with dignity.
